Really unique/delicious dinner with fresh ingredients. The best part was the dessert (that I forgot to take a picture of). We had cream puffs, dessert cocktails and a bread pudding type dessert with amaretto ice cream. The space is intimate and cute, perfect setting for a date night!
Oh, Fig, you so impressed me and it's not a figment of my imagination. Farm to table concept. The dining experience at Fig is above and beyond. The shrimp spaghetti might just be my favorite pasta dish. The flavors were delish. The crispy shallots balanced out the bite of the arugula salad with the sharpness of pecorino and earthy matsutake mushroom. Creative culinary dishes.
e had an early dinner around 5:30 pm since it's the only time they had for reservation. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable on the drinks and meal menu. The inside of the restaurant was nice and has the dim romantic light setting but not a modern styles. The appetizers were great and our dinner was good too. Their dinner portion is quite small so be ready to order different appetizers before your dinner but the food is good!
Hands-down, one of our favorite places from the well thought out plates, to our server who was kind in helping with any dietary needs. The space was romantic and clean. 100% recommend!
Really enjoyed this spot. I stumbled in on a girls' trip not realizing it was supposed to be a Big Deal, so I didn't have any expectations beyond hoping for yummy food. The dining room was beautiful. I love a place with low light. We had a passionate, fun waiter who explained basically every single dish on the menu and said each one was his favorite. Who could blame him. We all had cocktails, which all looked beautiful but weren't very good, I'm sorry to say. We also ordered the gnocchi, oysters, cottage cheese, Yukon gold puree, young arugula salad, shrimp scampi, and steak and shared it family-style. Everything was truly delicious, although I remain skeptical on the prices. If you're going to charge $20 for a salad, I sincerely hope it's because you pay your staff very very well. Overall, I'm glad we had the experience but if I come back to Charleston it wouldn't make the top of my list to try again.
When vacationing in Charleston, we always enjoy the dining scene. Charleston has so many fine dining restaurants to choose from so I always want to try something new when I vacation in the area. The top of my go to list is FIG. Which means, Food Is Good. Hey, I'm in for some figgy food. Let's get this review underway! Our hotel is close by so we walked a few blocks to the restaurant. Once inside we were greeted and seated promptly. I'm going to get the party started with a Fig Filthy Martini. Made with Ketel One Olive Oil washed Vodka, this was a stirred, not shaken perfect martini. My sister in law and I zeroed in on the homemade pate. The Chicken Liver Pate was very flavorful, it was an excellent starter dish. The Ricotta Gnocchi alla Bolognese was very light compared to the typical starchy potato Gnocchi. From the sauce to the cheese, another enjoyable dish. So far FIG is getting figgy with all servings. What impressed me the most? Our waiter. Man... he explained in great detail every dish we ordered, he knew the menu inside and out. I ordered a Sangiovese wine, kudos again to the wine sommelier. Excellent choice for the low country dishes being served. I'm not sure what Pan Roasted Coulotte Steak cut I was served but it was cooked perfectly and had an amazing flavor. We're all pretty packed but asked for (4) spoons as we dug into the Carolina Gold Rice Pudding. A perfect dessert to end the perfect meal. If you're in the Charleston area, I highly recommend dining at FIG.
There is a lot of hype around this place and I am always a bit skeptical. Is it really that good or is it just, trendy. Let's find out. For starters, we had the Broiled Steamboat Creek Oysters with green garlic, preserved lemon and Calabrian chili. WOW! So, our server told us they top the oysters and the. It goes in the broiler for only 15 seconds to melt the lemon and out yet come so the oyster is still raw. An absolutely fantastic dish. We also had the chicken liver pate. I was hoping for a duck pate as chicken can sometimes be boring. Not here. This was so great and creamy, you didn't even need the toast points. I. Fact, I was glad we ran out. It was delicious on its own. My wife had the ricotta gnocchi in a lamb bolognese. This is a starter option but a perfect entree size for her. The gnocchi stuffed with ricotta were clouds of flavor. I am not big on lamb, but this was mild and did not overwhelm anything on the dish. I went with the Duroc Pork Schnitzel. I knew this wasn't a standard schnitzel when I ordered it. It has a delicious cider vinegar, chicories and sliced cornichon sauce. When they coat and fry the pork, the grate a small amount of horseradish on top. This dish was nothing like any German schnitzel I have ever had and I would order it a dozen times if I could. The pork was a bit thicker than traditional schnitzel but I was cooked perfectly and still juicy. And the sauce, my goodness, I would have licked the plate if not in public. Finally, my wife wanted a taste of something for dessert. I don't know if I was full or just still savoring the schnitzel, but I said I would only have a bite of something. We ordered the Sticky Sorghum Pudding. Now, if you haven't had sorghum, it can be delicious or overpowering. It is served with a scoop of amaretto ice cream. My wife ended up having the bite or two and I demolished the rest. What an outstanding dessert. This doesn't feel like a fancy fine dining restaurant inside. It was nice, but not what I would call pulled together. When you enter they stand you across from the bar and offer a cocktail, but it felt crowded here. The other thing worth mentioning is they had some wonderful wines that paired well with dishes. A shout out to our server Lauren. She was really pleasant but was also able to articulate the dishes and their preparation. She is a stand out! FIG is definitely worth the hype. I will say this, Charleston has a beautiful cuisine that it is known for. FIG is a step away from that and more a culinary adventure which is great if you want something different during your visit.
This may have been our most favorite dinning spot during our weekend visit to Charleston! It was pretty hard to get a reservation (booked 3 weeks in advance and could only get 10pm on Saturday) but we'll worth it! We arrived early but were invited to sit at the bar for drinks, which we usually wouldn't but we figured we might as well given the beautiful ambiance and decor. Immediately greeted by staff, very attentive. Seated at our reservation time. Service was great! Knowledgeable and friendly waiter. But of course the FOOOD was the major highlight. We started off with what they noted to be known for, gnocchi. It was very large, soft like a pillow filled with cheese and just melted with flavor in your mouth. For entree my husband had the sea bass, which he enjoyed. I got I think it was a wagyu cut of some sort of steak? Very flavorful, tender, juicy! We ended up getting an extra appetizer because of how delicious everything was, which was a beef tartare with these delicate potato like crisps. Ended the night with a delicious pair of strawberry profiteroles. Presentation, food, and service gets a double thumbs up from me! If you're going to pick a place that requires early reservations, THIS place is well worth the try.
This Charleston staple has been around for a long time. They hardly need my review because clearly their reviews speak for themselves. However, I wanted to say that my dining experience at Fig was spectacular! The Bouillabaisse was amazing. And our server recommended the Ricotta Gnocchi + Lamb Bolognese for an appetizer. It was so flavorful. I do not have one negative thing to say about Fig. It was crowded but reservations go fast. We luckily booked close to a month in advance. Service was incredible. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits Charleston.
